PRETENDIT · Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your game stays on your phone. Player names, cards, answers, confessions, votes and missions are processed only in the app's memory on your device. They are never saved to storage, never sent to us, and never given to advertisers.
- The game works offline. You can play without an internet connection. Ads and Google's consent checks need a connection, and are simply skipped when there isn't one.
- The app shows non-personalised ads from Google AdMob. Because we don't know users' ages, every ad request asks Google for its teen treatment: no personalised ads or remarketing, Google's teen protections, and ads rated for teens. Google still collects and processes information such as device identifiers, your approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions and diagnostics.
- You have choices. Where Google's consent service requires it for your region, the app asks for your advertising choices and lets you revisit them later. You can also reset or delete your Android advertising ID.
- We do not run servers and do not receive your personal information. We only see aggregated advertising reports from AdMob.
1. Who we are
PRETENDIT is published by Niraj Acharya, an individual developer who publishes apps and games under the brand name GONISA Studio ("we", "us"). Niraj Acharya is responsible for PRETENDIT and for this policy.
This policy explains what information is involved when you use PRETENDIT, who processes it, and the choices you have. You can reach us at gonisa.business@gmail.com.
2. Information that stays on your device
Gameplay information
To run a party, PRETENDIT uses the information you enter or create while playing, such as player names, the selected intensity, the cards drawn, and answers, confessions, votes, guesses and Secret Mission assignments. This information:
- is processed only in the app's temporary memory on your device while the app is running;
- is never written to your device's storage and never sent to us or to anyone else, because PRETENDIT has no accounts, no cloud sync and no servers of its own;
- is never passed to Google or any advertising service; ad requests contain no player names or game content;
- is cleared when a party ends, except player names, which stay in memory so that Play again works. Player names are cleared when you return to the Home screen or close the app.
Ad-frequency record
So that ads are not shown too often, PRETENDIT saves one small record on your device containing two values: how many parties have been started, and the time the last full-screen ad was shown. This record contains no personal information, and PRETENDIT never sends it to us; we have no servers to send it to. Like other local app data, it may be included in Android's own device backup if backup is turned on (see section 7). It is deleted from your device if you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
3. Information processed by Google
PRETENDIT includes two Google services: the Google Mobile Ads SDK (Google AdMob), which shows ads, and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP), which manages advertising consent and privacy choices. Unlike your gameplay, these services communicate over the internet with Google's servers. PRETENDIT is therefore not an offline-only app, although the game itself works without a connection.
Consent check at start-up
Each time the app starts with an internet connection, Google's consent service contacts Google to determine whether a consent or privacy message applies to you and to retrieve your current choices. This happens before you make any choice, and even if no ads end up being shown. If you are offline, the app relies on the last choices stored on your device by Google's consent service, and if there are none, it shows no ads.
Advertising data
When the app requests ads, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects information and shares it with Google. Google's current disclosure for the SDK lists the following:
| Type of information | What Google describes |
|---|---|
| IP address and approximate location | Your device's IP address, which may be used to estimate the general location of the device |
| Device and account identifiers | Android advertising ID, app set ID and, if applicable, other identifiers related to signed-in accounts on the device |
| Product and ad interactions | Interaction information such as app launches, taps and video views |
| Diagnostics | Information about the performance of the app and the SDK, such as app launch time, hang rate and energy usage |
Google states that it uses this information for advertising, analytics and fraud prevention, and that it is encrypted in transit. Because PRETENDIT applies Google's teen treatment to every ad request (see section 4), the ads you see are not personalised, but Google still receives and processes this information, for example to deliver and measure ads, limit how often they appear, and prevent fraud. Google processes this information under its own privacy policy, which we do not control. The authoritative, up-to-date list is in Google's Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosure.
We do not receive the personal information Google collects. AdMob gives us only aggregated reports, such as the number of ads shown and the revenue earned.
Google privacy information
4. How advertising works in PRETENDIT
- A banner ad may appear at the bottom of the Home screen.
- A full-screen ad may appear when a party starts or after a party ends. Your very first party is ad-free, there is at most one full-screen ad per party, and there are at least five minutes between full-screen ads.
- Ads never appear during a card, a private hand-off, a Confession, a Secret Mission, a vote or any other gameplay moment.
- If an ad is unavailable, you are offline, or ads cannot be requested, the game simply continues without one.
Teen treatment for every user
PRETENDIT is for ages 13 and older and does not ask for or know anyone's age. So, for every user, the app asks Google to apply its teen age treatment to all ad requests and limits ads to content rated T (Teen) or lower. Under Google's teen treatment, personalised ads and remarketing are turned off and Google's ad-serving protections for teens are applied. If the app cannot confirm that this treatment is in place, it does not request ads at all.
Teen treatment limits how ads are chosen; it does not stop all data processing. Google still receives the information described in section 3, such as your IP address and device identifiers, to deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud.
5. Your privacy choices
Consent and privacy messages
PRETENDIT uses Google's consent service to decide whether a consent or privacy message must be shown to you. Which messages appear, and in which regions, depends on Google's consent service and on the publisher's AdMob privacy settings; they are not shown to every user. When a message is required, the app is designed to show it on the Home screen rather than during a game, and ads are requested only once Google's consent service confirms that ads may be requested.
PRETENDIT already requests non-personalised ads for everyone (see section 4), but your choices still matter. They control the processing that requires your consent under applicable law, such as storing or accessing information on your device for advertising. Declining is not the same as switching off advertising: PRETENDIT may still show ads, which Google may serve as limited ads, and Google may still process certain information (such as your IP address and device information) for purposes like delivering and measuring ads, limiting how often they appear, and preventing fraud and abuse, where applicable law allows.
Revisiting your choices
Where Google's consent service indicates that you should be able to change your choices, a Privacy options link appears on the How to Play screen. Use it at any time to review or change your choices.
Other controls
- Advertising ID. You can reset or delete your Android advertising ID in your device's settings (usually under Settings › Privacy › Ads or Settings › Google › Ads; the location varies by device).
- Google ad settings. You can manage how Google personalises ads in My Ad Center.
- Play offline. With no internet connection, the game works normally and neither ads nor consent checks reach Google.
- Uninstall. Uninstalling PRETENDIT stops all of the processing described in this policy and deletes the ad-frequency record and stored consent choices from your device. Any copy in an Android device backup is managed separately (see section 7).
6. Device permissions
- Internet and network state: used by Google's advertising and consent services.
- Advertising ID: lets the Google Mobile Ads SDK read your Android advertising ID, subject to your device settings.
- Vibration: used for haptic feedback during play.
PRETENDIT does not request access to your camera, microphone, contacts, photos or files, or your device's precise (GPS) location.
7. Data storage, retention and deletion
- Gameplay information: processed in memory only, never stored, and cleared as described in section 2.
- Ad-frequency record: stored on your device until you clear the app's storage or uninstall the app.
- Consent choices: stored on your device by Google's consent service so you are not asked every time, until you change them, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app.
- Android device backups: if backup is turned on in your device settings, Android may back up eligible local app data, which can include the ad-frequency record and stored consent choices, to your Google account. Android may restore that data if you reinstall PRETENDIT or set up a new device. These backups are created and managed by Android and Google under your device and Google account settings, not by us, and we cannot access them. You can manage or turn off backups in your device settings (usually under Settings › Google › Backup; the location varies by device).
- Information collected by Google: stored and retained by Google under its own policies. See the Google Privacy Policy for Google's retention and deletion practices.
We do not hold any personal information about you, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete. To delete everything PRETENDIT keeps on your device, clear the app's storage or uninstall it. Any Android backup copy is managed through your device or Google account settings.
8. Third-party services
The only third-party services in PRETENDIT that receive information from your device are Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK) and Google's User Messaging Platform, both provided by Google. Google may work with other advertising partners to fill ad requests, as described in Google's policies. We do not sell, rent or share your gameplay information with anyone; we never have it.
Google Play, which you use to install the app, has its own privacy policy and is not covered by this policy.
9. Age requirements and children's privacy
PRETENDIT is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not designed for or directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. In fact, we do not collect personal information from any user.
Teenagers may use PRETENDIT. Because we cannot tell teenagers and adults apart, Google's teen ad treatment and a T (Teen) ad content limit apply to every user (see section 4). If you are under the age at which you can consent to data processing where you live, please ask a parent or guardian to help you with the advertising choices described in section 5. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, or believe a child under 13 is using the app, contact us at gonisa.business@gmail.com. Uninstalling the app stops all of the processing described in this policy.
10. Your rights and requests
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as access, correction, deletion, objection, restriction or withdrawing consent. Because we do not collect or store personal information about you, we usually have nothing to provide, correct or delete, but you can still contact us and we will respond.
- Advertising choices: review or change them through Privacy options where available (see section 5).
- Information processed by Google: use the tools and contact options in the Google Privacy Policy.
- Questions or requests for us: email gonisa.business@gmail.com.
You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if PRETENDIT's features or the services it uses change. The updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date, so please check this page from time to time.
